I started this site to explain basic science related to understanding Global Warming. I have made it a separate site because there should be little or no controversy with this data, it is just well known data presented in a slightly different manner. Basically, some types of data are better explained using a multimedia presentation than with simple printed text.
|Lapse Rate||Typically, the temperature of the atmosphere changes with altitude.
The amount of change is known as the Thermal Lapse Rate,
or simply, the Lapse Rate when the context is understood.
|Temperature Conversions||Automatically convert temperature from °C to °F to °K and solve Stefan's equation for finding blackbody temperature at equilibrium.|
|Temperature Standards||The way we measure temperature changes from time to time. Two recent standards are IPTS-68 and ITS-90.|
|Blackbody Equations||Some basic information on the Blackbody equations and how to convert between them.
|Water Vapor||These programs implement 30 different saturation water vapor algorithms (models) to help understand the relationships between Relative Humidity, Dew Point, Temperature, Pressure, and the Water Vapor Mixing Ratio.|
|IceCores||Various comments, in development
|HITRAN Spectra||A discussion of the HITRAN Spectra database, an MS Windows Application (HITRAN_Data_Plot.zip) to display it, and a userguide|
|Graph Notes||Notes on using graphs - Some basic information on how to use
the graph objects - scroll, zoom,
hide a series, change a series color
|GHCN Temperature Plotter||This tool plots high quality GHCN (Global Historical Climatology Network) temperature data from more than 5,000 stations.|
- a simple model of an airless rock in space
CoolingCalc - This calculator simulates cooling to space (at 0K) by radiation alone
Insolation Calculator - This calculator computes the amount of Sun light perpendicular (normal) to the surface of the Earth
